Bookmakers Ladbrokes have suspended betting on Tom Hardy replacing Daniel Craig as the new James Bond.

The betting company revealed the news on its social media accounts as it looks increasingly likely that The Revenant star will replace Craig.

Our spies are convinced Hardy will be the next 007,” a source told The Independent (via Squareeyed).

“The run of bets has shaken the Bond betting and for the time being, we’re taking a breather.”

This comes after news that Daniel Craig was to star in a high-profile TV adaptation of Jonathan Franzen’s novel Purity, which prompted rumours the actor was quitting the 007 franchise.

Hardy has been mentioned previously as Craig’s potential replacement although several other actors were said to be in the running, including Damian Lewis, Idris Elba and James Norton.

Craig has played Bond across four films over a nine year period, beginning with Casino Royale and culminating in last year’s Spectre.
