The man in the image above is 32-year-old megs-Star Wars fan Daniel Fleetwood who, like most of us reading this, is very, very excited to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
However, unlike most of us, Daniel doesn’t expect to be alive for the movie’s opening this December.
And that’s where we come in. In July, Daniel was diagnosed with a rare form of connective tissue cancer and given a prognosis of two months to live. Needless to say, he’s already exceeded that expectancy and, sadly, doesn’t think he’ll make it to see the movie.
So, the fan community, along with stars Mark Hamill and John Boyega, have got together and are trying to create enough online support that maybe, just maybe, Disney will allow Daniel to see a cut of the movie before he dies.
And we want this to happen so very much.
Star Wars, as we’ve discussed many, many times, is much more than a series of movies. For many it shaped who we are and has become linked to us in a way that very few things do. And Daniel is one of us.
So, here’s what to do, go on Social Media, use #ForceForDaniel and let Disney know that this is important to you and maybe, just maybe we can make a dying man’s wish come true.
Isn’t that worth the time and effort? Damn right it is.
