So, remember when there was a lot of talk about Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt making a second Ghostbusters movie alongside the current rebot? And remember when it was more or less denied by the actors (here)?

Well, it looks like someone was telling lies…

MTV caught up with Drew Pearce, writer of Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, and asked him about the Ghostbusters movie with the two actors as he was the one rumoured to be writing it.

And not only did he not deny it, he out right confirmed that it is still very much alive and well: “Oh yeah,” he said.

“I’ve finished my work on that in the last couple weeks. Obviously it’s top secret, but there’s a gigantic bold idea that I came up with, and the Russo brothers — who did ’Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ and are doing ’Civil War’ at the moment — and Ivan Reitman, who did the original movie, are going to take that and run with it. Obviously I cannot tell you what it is, but hopefully in one year’s time you’ll know!”

Wow, wow… Ivan Reitman and the Russo brothers are attached? Well, this is interesting. It’s a gigantic, bold idea? Here’s an idea… is it possible the new and old Ghostbusters are going to meet in a cross-dimensional rift? Sorry… that’s just the fanboy in me getting all giddy.

But wait, Pearce had this to say: “My personal inclination is to try and make everything occur in the same ’Ghostbusters’ universe, because I feel, as a fan, that’s what I would want. Standing here in New York, you just wanna tie it all together. Whether that happens or not we’ll see, but I’ve certainly given them the tools to do that, I hope.”

Anyway, on the rumoured involvement of Tatum and Pratt, Pearce said: “That’s definitely the cast we’ve been thinking about as we approach the project. Whether that happens or not is very much above my pay grade. It’s just my job to give them something exciting that maybe they’ll do.”

Right… breathe…  could the currently filming Ghostbusters movie and the classic movie(s) be set to meet? Oh, my. I need to sit down, but I want your thoughts, folks.
