Looks like the financial issues are solved and Fast & Furious 11 is coming

I make no secret of it, the Fast & Furious movies are something of a guilty pleasure for me, but even I have to admit that the last couple, with their Avengers-level heroics, teamed with the fact that no-one dies for real in the franchise, really flew the coup and it came as no shock when we learned that the last movie, Fast X, was not only the most expensive in the series but majorly underperformed too.

So much so, that we learned that Universal was getting cold feet over making Fast 11 due to budget concerns; with the last movie costing $340m to make, the studio wants a budget under $200m or the franchise stalls here.

Now, it seems that the problem has been solved and the final entry in the main series may be gettign ready to rev its engines.

Jason Momoa, who played the insanely over-the-top villain Dante in the last Fast movie, when asked when he was coming back, said: “I would love to come back and play, man. People all over the world love that character — it’s crazy. But I got no script, so not that soon.”

“The only thing we’re focused on is making this a satisfying finale both creatively and financially,” said producer Neal Moritz.

Adding to the news that it looks like Fast 11 is coming, star Vin Diesel posted images and a brief video of himself on his Instagram, below, along with chief marketing officer for Universal Pictures, Michael Moses, in which Moses says to the camera: “Out drifting with Dom Toretto. Planning everything. We’ve got it solved.”

In the images too, Diesel can be seen wearing a T-shirt with ‘Fast X Part 2 Los Angeles Production 2025’ printed on the back.

So, if, like me, you’re a fan of this franchise who wants an ending to it, no matter how silly it’s gotten, then it looks like we might have some more definite news before we hit 2026.

The WSJ is reporting that, should Fast 11 happen and be profitable, the plan is to continue expanding the franchise on the big and small screens… though for a little less money than before.

Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all!

PS Vin, where’s the new Riddick trailer?

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
