Another Irish star has joined the cast of Matt Reeves’ The Batman, joining Colin Farrell’s Oswald Cobblepot.
Love/Hate – it was massive in the UK – star Barry Keoghan is to play GCPD’s finest Officer Stanley Merkel, who is a familiar face in the comics and is also one of Jim Gordon’s best friends on the force – Gordon here is played by West World star Jeffrey Wright.
It’s interesting that Keoghan is a TV star because, if I were a betting man, I’d say he could be the lead – or one of the leads – in the GCPD series that will take place a year before Reeve’s movie (here).
The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman and sort of blew our minds with its trailer at the weekend at DC Fandome:
The movie was filming in London and was shutdown due to that damned virus in March but it’s due to resume filming at the beginning of September.
Keoghan will also star with the likes of Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek in the MCU’s The Eternals which is set for release in 2021 too.
Looks like the focus of this movie is going to be set on the GCPD and how they deal with the chaos that comes with the new vigilante, The Batman and, as a massive fan of Jim Gordon, I’m very ok with this.
Let me know your thoughts, guys.
