Star Wars actress Lupita Nyong’o has revealed that she has yet to start work on Episode VIII.
In an interview with Collider.com, the star, who plays Maz Kanata, was asked what it had been like to work with director Rian Johnson given that filming on the sequel has already finished.
“Rian! I haven’t worked with him yet; I’ve yet to shoot. That’s in my future,” she said. With post-production well underway it won’t be long until she’s filming her scenes.
As for Black Panther, the actress will play Nakia. Chosen as a child by her tribal elders to be one of the “Adored Ones,” a.k.a. Dora Milaje, Nakia spent three years training before being presented to King T’Challa as a teenager.
Filming on the Ryan Coogler-directed movie begins soon. Asked about her excitement at becoming part of the Marvel universe, she said: “I am so excited. I can’t wait to kick ass and learn all sorts of cool things that my body can do. I’m so looking forward to it, to work with Ryan Coogler who’s such an incredible human being. It’s gonna be fun, and the cast. The cast!”
Star Wars: Episode VIII hits cinemas on December 15, 2017, while Marvel’s Black Panther arrives on February 16, 2018.
