We really should be at this stage just expecting every new comic written by Mark Millar to be adapted for the silver screen (just last week we learned that his books, ‘American Jesus’ and ‘Supercrooks’ have been optioned by Waypoint Entertainment) but we have now learned that the latest comic written by Millar and drawn by Stuart Immonen, ‘Empress’ will also be coming.

The first issue of Millar’s self proclaimed ‘most ambitious work to date’ was a complete sellout and #2 is hitting stands yesterday.

‘Empress’ follows the wife of an intergalactic despot ruler who after years of marriage decides to leave her husbands tyrannical rule and do what’s best for her and her children but of course he won’t let them go that easy..
“Imagine you’re married to the worst bad guy from your favorite sci-fi movie. An alien dictator feared throughout the universe, who will kill you if you leave, but you need to escape for the sake of your three children. All you have are your wits, your bodyguard, and three guns.”

Millar has partnered with Hollywood producers Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent) and Jeff Kirschenbaum (xXx: The Return of Xander Cage) and scriptwriter F. Scott Frazier (xXx: The Return of Xander Cage) will also provide the script for the sci-fi epic.
We’ll keep you updated with any more news as it happens.
