Matt Damon may be appearing in Thor: Love and Thunder… and we have an idea

January 19th, 2021 by Marc Comments

In a new interview it seems that Matt Damon may have revealed he’s set for a second appearance in the MCU.

Fans will recall the actor had previously appeared in Thor: Ragnarok (below) as an actor playing Loki in a stage recreation of previous events from the Thor movies. It was a cameo played for laughs but it seems it may have only been a warm-up act for the star’s big role.

We know that Taika Waititi is currently gearing up to film the next Thor movie, Love and Thunder, in Australia with the stars already arriving – including most of the Guardians of the Galaxy stars – so, it’s clear the movie will be going in front of cameras soon.

In his new interview, Damon said: “I’m so excited that my family and I will be able to call Australia home for the next few months. Australian film crews are world-renowned for their professionalism and are a joy to work with so the 14 days of quarantine will be well worth it.”

Now, obviously this could be a coincidence, but the fan community being the fan community, has jumped on the comment and believe that this is definitely an admission that the star may be set for a bigger role in the MCU moving forward.

Afterall, the actor has previously said that his appearance in Ragnorok started as a phonecall, and we also know that Waititi has form for getting friends into his movies at the drop of a hat: “Chris [Hemsworth] just called me up, and Taika called me up, and I’m friends with those guys. They pitched me the idea and I just thought it was hysterical, the idea of basically an intergalactic community theater actor kind of living out Tom Hiddleston’s character’s fantasy… I just thought it was just a great, funny bit, and very easy to do. Those guys were a lot of fun, and Taika runs a really fun set. It was a light lift for me.”

I have to say, I doubt he’s set to bring back this ‘community theatre actor’ so what do you say?

Now, just putting this out there, but Kevin Feige, the boss at Marvel, was recently asked if we will see Nova,  left,a member of the Nova Corps who is almost as powerful (some say more powerful) as Captain Marvel. Nova has been two people in the comics in the past, Richard Rider and Sam Alexander  and Feige was asked if we may see both versions in the MCU to which he replied: “well, yes and yes.”

“Timing is relative, right?” he added.

“I think I’d been talking about Doctor Strange eight years before that movie came out. So, ‘immediate potential’ is relative. But clearly, we are not shying away from the cosmic end of storytelling right in the sweet spot of the Nova Corps and Nova himself.”

What if Damon popped up as the original Nova and then hands the mantle to the next one? An aging hero could be a fun way for Damon to make his impression on the MCU for good and the Guardians of the Galaxy look at to appear here and they have already introduced the Nova Corp in their own movies, so it’s certainly not impossible.

Anyway, just a thought. What say you all?
