Matt Damon was almost the villain of Spider-man: Homecoming 2

April 3rd, 2018 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

It is looking likely that his small role in Thor: Ragnarok will be they only appearance the Matt Damon will make in the MCU as during an interview with Jeff Sneider, the man who brought us Jason Bourne and Will Hunting, revealed he passed up on playing the villain in the Spiderman: Homecoming sequel.

With production of the second Marvel Spider-man movie expected to begin in June 2018 there has still not been an announcement of a villain yet but we can all sleep safely in our beds knowing that Mr Damon will not be bringing his unique blend of mansplaining and smell the fart acting to what is the best version of Spider-man that has ever been on the big screen.

Interesting news for sure but it has us wondering… who do you think the villain in Homecoming 2 will be?

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Directed by John Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr.
