Mission: Impossible 5 scores female lead and lines up Alec Baldwin?

July 10th, 2014 by Marc Comments

With Mission Impossible 5 getting ever closer, we’re expecting much casting news and details over the next few weeks…  and it may have started already.

Variety are reporting that The White Queen star Rebecca Ferguson (above) has all but signed on as the female lead in the movie as she is the first choice of Tom Cruise, director Chris McQuarrie and the studio.

In the script by Drew Pearce, Ferguson’s character is said to be “some sort of assassin” and it’s reportedly the role that actress Jessica Chastain had to turn down due to scheduling.

In related news, the legendary Alec Baldwin is reportedly in talks to come on board as “a high-ranking CIA official who oversees Cruise’s division”.

More casting and news as it breaks, guys…

Mission: Impossible 5 will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote Edge of Tomorrow and directed Jack Reacherboth starring Tom Cruise.

If you choose to accept it, Mission: Impossible 5 opens in theaters on December 25, 2015.
