Looks like Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible team have come across a force they are having difficulty besting as the fifth instalment has ground to a halt until a better ending can be figured out.
Filming in London, production has shut down for a week so director Christopher McQuarrie and an unnamed writer friend could work out a better finale for the movie. It seems the writer will neither be paid or credited for their input, though.
While it’s undoubtedly an expensive thing to stall mid-production, it’s hardly unheard of – cough World War Z cough – even with the release date only five months away.
An insider at Paramount told THR that “Chris, Tom and a third person wanted to take a minute to get from what they thought was a good place to a more perfect place.”
We here at FTN hope this doesn’t damage the movie too much as we’re big fans of the previous (maybe not so much the second one) movies and are looking forward to McQuarrie’s vision.
