See, this is how it goes, no Dark Tower news or rumours for ages then Boom! An explosion of the damned things…
We reported during the week that Aaron Paul had confirmed he’d ‘had talks’ about the role of Eddie Dean in the Dark Tower movies and TV series (Here), which are adapted from Stephen King’s masterpiece book series, and now it looks like there’s more news to be had. Though, file under ‘rumour’ for now.
According to Schmoes Know, Aaron Paul’s comments on the idea being to bring it to cinema and TV is true and it could have its home at Netflix: “Ron Howard is going to make this with MRC and Imagine for around $60 million or so. And he’s likely doing this next. There’s going to be a TV series as well since it’s MRC and I’m thinking it may end up being at Netflix.”
So, we knew this already from ages ago, but this next part is new; it seems that Ireland’s own Liam Neeson is interested in being part of the project. Now, while there’s no news on what role he would want – The Crimson King? or perhaps Flagg? – the rumour is he wants the role of the main character, Roland of Gilead, but it’s all just speculation at this stage. Personally, I see him as Cort, the grizzled, bitter old warrior who trained the young Roland but that’s just my tuppence.
So what do you all think? Is Neeson the man to play Roland? I certainly think he has what it takes, it’s just nothing like how i see him in my head.
