More Tintin coming soon: Spielberg

March 17th, 2013 by Marc Comments

OK, we liked Tintin. Is it ok to say that? We’re still not sure what way the public swayed on that one. And as such, we’d like to see the trilogy completed, even though nothing has moved forward or even really been mentioned since the first one came out.

Until now.

Steven Spielberg, in an interview with The Times of India, got chatty about the next movie and the planned schedule for it (them): “Peter Jackson is directing the next one, I’m producing. We have a script and we’re going to start performance capture probably at the end of this year.

“Don’t hold me to it, but we’re hoping the film will come out around Christmas-time in 2015. We know which books we’re making, we can’t share that now but we’re combining two books which were always intended to be combined by Herge.” And for those fans of the source material, it appears The Blue Lotus would most likely end up being a part of the third film.

It seems that, for Tintin fans out there, The Blue Lotus will be one half of the third movie. So, what can we gather from this? Well, basically it seems that once Jackson gets done with that silly Hobbit nonsense (easy! – Ed) he’ll move back to Tintin. Good times.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
