'Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation' film premiere, New York, America - 27 Jul 2015

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation star Rebecca Ferguson is set to appear in upcoming science fiction epic Life.

The actress is to headline the movie, directed by Daniel Espinosa. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn are on board to produce. Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, writers of Deadpool, are handling the script.

For the first time in a while for Hollywood, this is an original project rather than an adaptation. The story is set on the International Space Station, when astronauts analysing a soil sample from Mars discover life within it that is more intelligent than they first thought.

This looks like a promising project, but since Ferguson is filming the next Mission Impossible movie later this year it may be a while before we get to see it. Here’s hoping it’s not in development hell for long.

The death ray is currently in the works and one day you shall all bow to him, his giant space station and fleet of funky orange space shuttles...
