It’s been some time since Matt Damon’s amnesiac one-man army Jason Bourne has been seen on-screen. Absent from The Bourne Legacy, Bourne seems to have vanished to Parts Unknown.
However, Paul Greenglass, director of the upcoming Jason Bourne that will see Damon back to kick arse and take names, had a hint of where Bourne has been hiding himself since The Bourne Ultimatum:
“He’s been in the shadows of Europe. He’s been active and he’s been doing hard physical work. Definitely not sunning himself on the beach.”
The director was also surprised that Matt Damon arrived on set in full movie-ready shape, saying that that’s when it hit home that they were making another Bourne movie:
“It gave all of us the most immense shock, because you think, ‘Oh my God. This is weird. This is Jason Bourne, and he’s back.’ That’s sort of exciting.”
So the director’s excited at least. Can Jason Bourne buck the law of diminishing returns and return with something to prove more of a critical success than The Bourne Legacy? We’ll just have to wait and see…
Jason Bourne is set for release on 29 July 2016.
