Alien 5 is a go!!!! Not only that but a Prometheus sequel is still in the works for a March 2016 release
Having previously posted some Alien sequel concept art for an Alien movie that never made it into production. Most assumed that would be the closest that District 9 director Neill Blomkamp would get to the franchise.
However Blomkamp has posted the above image to his Instagram account with the comment “Um… So I think it’s officially my next film #alien”.
20th Century Fox have confirmed that the movie will be a sequel and not a prequel. What has yet to be confirmed is the return of Ripley played by Sigourney Weaver. Weaver, who worked with Blomkamp on the upcoming Chappie which hits cinemas March 6th. The new “Alien” takes place years after the “Prometheus” sequel. Ridley Scott is producing both films through his production company Scott Free.
