Netflix and Keanu Reeves just scored a major win as Justin Lin has signed on to direct the BRZRKR movie based on the comic created by Reeves himself.
Lin, the man who single-handedly made the Fast & Furious franchise the action juggernaut it is – if you have a favorite F&F movie after the first two, Lin probably made it – will direct the ‘gritty’ movie which according to Netflix and Boom!, is a “brutally epic saga about an immortal warrior’s 80,000 year fight through the ages.
“The man known only as ‘B’ is half-mortal and half-god, cursed and compelled to violence, even at the sacrifice of his sanity. But after wandering the earth for centuries, B may have finally found a refuge — working for the U.S. government to fight the battles too violent and too dangerous for anyone else.
“In exchange, B will be granted the one thing he desires — the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence … and how to end it.”
The BRZKRK script will be penned by The Batman co-writer Mattson Tomlin who is also writing an anime series based on Boom!’s comics – it’s not clear right now if they’re all the same universe at this point, though same character, same writer would suggest it is.
I’ll keep you updated as and when I hear more.
Thoughts? I know you have them…
