New animatics reveal an Avenger who never made it into the final movie

August 26th, 2013 by Marc Comments

Federico D’Alessandro was animatics supervisor on Joss Whedon’s The Avengers and the guys at comicbookmovie have showcased a few of his amazing animatics from the movie…

First up, this scene contains several pieces that occur during the battle of New York, however, there’s a few differences. Firstly – and quite curiously –  when the alien horde comes through the rift, Loki says it’s not his army and seems as worried as the Avengers, secondly at 17secs we see Wasp flying with the rest of the team and when we get the pan-around that we get in the movie, she is in the group too… looks like all those rumours of her being in the movie were true. To a point. Watch it here:

Here’s a scene featuring Iron Man that would have served as his introduction in the movie and, animatic or not, is a cracking scene:

Next is a fairly different take on Loki’s escape from SHIELD at the start of the movie with the Cosmic Cube, including Iron Man going after him:

Finally, here’s an extended version of the scene where Loki tries to put Tony Stark under his spell:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
