Some cool Batman V Superman details tonight, folks, so let’s get right into it!
Batman V Superman costume designer Michael Wilkinson has been chatting to People about Affleck both in the suit and as Batman in general and he seems to be very impressed and convoked he completely inhabits the role
“I think people are going to be blown away by his Bruce Wayne and his Batman,” Wilkinson said.
“It just feels right, like he was born to be this character. He’s sexy, he’s smart and seductive. He’s strong and a little intimidating and scary, he’s a real brawler, there’s nothing precious about his Bruce Wayne. He rolls up his sleeves and gets it done.”
He goes on to talk about the first time Affleck put on the Batsuit: “I remember he just kind of looked at himself in the mirror, pretty happy with how he looked.
“The costume is very intimidating and huge and I think he intimidated himself when he looked in the mirror, so that’s a good sign.”
That sounds like Batman to us.
In related news, chatting to EW, Jess Eisenberg has been talking about Lex Luthor’s role in the superhero smack down we’ve waited 30 years for: “My part in the Superman movie, my character has a lot of longer dialogue scenes and emotional transitions. The character is just so interesting and full of all the contradictions that you look for when you do an independent movie. So it kind of seemed similar to me.”
“[Lex Luthor is] so incredibly well, full of interesting, contradictory, realistic elements that make a character wonderful.
“He has a kind of charming public persona, and then a deeply private rage. And this is not only interesting as an actor to play, but I would say more realistic to how extroverted people like this, who are kind of leaders of big organizations, probably feel. Coloring in that framework is somebody who’s also very clever and funny and emotional and vengeful.”
And finally, Comicbook have revealed that Robin Atkin Downes has revealed that he “helped bring Doomsday to life” in the movie.
Although the actor wasn’t too clear on what he did exactly, given his voice work on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Batman: Bad Blood, Fallout 4 and Game of Thrones, we’d say it’s a fairly safe bet he did voice work… will Doomsday have dialogue? Or will he be a speechless monster?
We’ll all find out in March.
Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE is released in cinemas March 2016.
