In an era where Scream is one of the biggest franchise around, it looks like the hook-handed man is back for blood this summer too.

The new movie, the third in the series, will be directed by do Revenge’s Jennifer Kaytin Robinson from a script by Leah McKendrick

On top of this, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr are returning to the roles that they make famous in the original two movies in the 90s.

Billy Campbell, Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Haur-King, Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nichols, and Gabbriette also star.

The first movie was written by Kevin Williamson and was based on the 1970s horror novel of the same name by Lois Duncan and was based on a bunch of teens being stalked by the seeming ghost of a man they accidentally killed… last summer.

Jennifer Love Hewitt reveals she has signed on for I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel

The official synopsis of the new movie reads:

When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences.

A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer…

As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.
