Well, it seems the only thing that can get the better of the mighty Thor is… the barber?!

All new images from EW reveal our first look at Thor: Ragnarok, including Thor’s new tight cut… how will fans react to the loss of the png flowing locks?! It also gives us Cate Blanchett as the MCU’s first villain, Hela, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie as well as director Taika Waititi on set and Hulk himself, Mark Ruffalo, AKA Bruce Banner, with Thor.

Oh and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is in there too….

So the whole family is there.

“I have a belief that if you’re lucky enough to get to part 3 of a franchise, it is your obligation not to fall to threequel-itis,” says Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

The movie will see Hela released from her prison onto the MCU, but she’s not impressed: “She’s been locked away for millennia getting more and more cross, and then, with a mistake, she gets unleashed and she ain’t getting back in that box,” says Blanchett.

As for the Planet Hulk aspect of the tale, Hemsworth says the planet Sakaar is a unique pitstop in the galaxy: “[Sakaar is] basically where every wormhole across the universe dumps out its trash, so you get people from all walks of life with all sorts of incredible abilities and powers.

“No one cares what prince or king Thor may have been in another world. Also, his strength is pretty easily matched with those he finds himself amongst.”

And yes, we’re guessing this is where Hulk will come into the story.

Hemsworth goes on to talk about the tone and direction of the movie: “Taika has such a quirky, left-of-field sense of humor, which forced all the characters and the tone of the whole story to head in a new direction. Each day we were like, ‘Are we pushing it too far? Are we allowed to have this much fun?’”

So there we have it, the MCU is getting even bigger with this movie (as we expected) and it certainly looks and feels like something between Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor… which makes sense when you think about it.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
