We already know (sort of) that the upcoming Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness will explore the, em, multiverse of the Marvel universe.
Likely following on from the likes of the Arrowverse’s Crisis on Infinite Earths, the movie could potentially see characters from TV shows, cartoon, alternate studios’ movies, games… the sky is really the limit.
But now it seems another world may be set for the big screen in the movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Strange and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff.
Actor Jon Prophet’s listing on Spotlight talent agency (below) has him listed as ‘New Yorker 616’ in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
So? Well, Marvel fans will know that the number 616 is a nod to the original earth that saw the comics bring us Spider-man, Fantastic Four, the X-Men and, well, pretty much all the heroes we know and love. And no, the MCU is NOT 616, although I understand why some may think it is.
What it means for the movie is anyone’s guess but under the direction of Sam Raimi, I wouldn’t be surprised if they find a way to actually bring the comics to life for the movie in a way we’ve never seen before, giving us the comic original versions of all the MCU heroes would be very cool… could we see an animated section in the middle of the movie? Only time will tell…
Thoughts on this one, guys?
