Just keep telling yourself this is an Elseworlds tale and, more importantly, just a rumour at this stage.
A new rumour is doing the rounds online that claims the Joaquin Phoenix Joker movie will have a very different take on the character and how he became Batman’s greatest foe than anything we’ve ever seen before.
So, firstly, the source of the rumour, The Nerd Rage Podcast, has apparently seen proof that this is all true… we’re not saying they haven’t, just that we have no way of knowing either way and therefore we’re just reporting it as rumour. For now.
So, here we go.
In the Todd Phillips movie it seems the Joker will be – pre-transformation – a heavy drugs user and during one of his drug rages he will crack, becoming the insane Harlequin of Hate. And, apparently, the white face of the character will be cocaine on his face.
OK.
Now this may tie-in to the news that Robert DeNiro will be playing a TV host, with other rumours suggesting Phoenix’s character may crack live on air, becoming The Joker in what should have been his big break.
On live TV. Where everyone knows who he is.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm…
Anyway, we’re excited for the movie and we’re on board with the idea that this is a completely self-contained take on the character… but we only see this spurring on the DC movie hate that exists already.
