New Star Wars spinoff announcement coming very, very soon…

May 28th, 2017 by Marc Comments

We know that there’s still a few confirmed Star Wars movies in the works…

We have Episode VIII, IX and the Han Solo movie coming in the next two years but after that? Well, we’ve had promises of more but so far we’re not sure what they’ll be.

The rumour mill seems determined to get that Obi-Wan movie up and running, but we’ve also heard rumours of a Yoda movie and a Boba Fett movie (which was being made by Fantastic Four director Josh Trank until last year). Heck, we even heard rumbling that we might see Rogue One characters Baise and Chirrut in their own outing soon.

Whatever the next spinoff is, we’ll likely know very, very soon.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has said that there’s an announcement coming very, very soon: “We have a couple of things right now that we’re circling, and we’ll make a decision between the two pretty shortly. It’s probably for 2020, and we will make a decision by June,” she said.

So, while we have no idea what the announcement will be, we have to say our money is on Obi-Wan first then Boba Fett next.

What do you all think? Who would you like to see flying solo (ahem) in the next standalone movie?

Let us know…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
