Oh god, Gerard Butler set for Point Break remake?

January 9th, 2014 by Marc Comments

Ok, this is how I feel about this news…

Right, moving on…

Gerard Butler is tipped to play Bodhi (the role made famous by Patrick Swayze in the original) in the Point Break remake.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he’s in negotiations to play the ‘expert extreme-sports athlete and bank robber’.

The site is reporting that: “Butler will play Bodhi, an expert extreme-sports athlete who seeks nirvana through the conquest of a series of athletic feats such as surfing 100-foot waves.

“He saves Johnny Utah, the undercover FBI agent, and brings him into the fold of international criminals.”

Total Recall and Salt writer Kurt Wimmer has penned the script with invincible direct and Fast and Furious cinematographer Ericson Core directing and it will be set in the world of extreme sports rather than the surf scene of the original movie.

Asked about returning as Utah, Keanu Reeves told BBC 5 in December:  ‘Absolutely not. It’s not my place. If they can find a way to do it that works out good, then God bless them.’

No release date for this yet nor has Utah been cast…

Oh, here’s a pic of Butler too:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
