Ok, we have to be open right away on this. We don’t think this is going to happen. There, we said it.

However, with the Ghostbusters reboot, Point Break remake and TRON 3 cancellation, we sort of need something to hang on to and Big Trouble in Little China is it. For now.

Website Scyllar are reporting: “Fox are planning a sequel to the fan favorite. It is not announced who will direct the movie but John Carpenter is definitely deserving. It is not announced when it will be released or who the cast will be but Big Trouble in Little China fans can expect a long awaited second dose inside the next few years.”

And this all seems like a lot of unknowns in a rumour, don’t you think?

But, with the appearance of the Storms and Co in the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles episode, as well as the Funko Action Figures and the Boom! comic series both currently on shop shelves, we certainly wouldn’t rule out the idea that someone is looking at the movie at Fox, but we do implore them… if this IS happening PLEASE DON’T REBOOT it.

Kurt Russell (Jack Burton), Kim Cattrall (Gracey Law) and Dennis Dunn (Wang) could all certainly return and we’re sure there’s a wealth of adventures still waiting to be told in that universe. And we know John Carpenter is still keen on the franchise, given his involvement in the comic series.

Let’s hope there’s something to this, but let’s just dwell in the world of wishful thinking for now…

“Okay. You people sit tight, hold the fort and keep the home fires burning. And if we’re not back by dawn… call the president.”

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
