It started with Maleficent, then came Cinderella… Beauty & The Beast and Dumbo are in the works with Pocahontas next… then Winnie the Pooh. And after that? Pinocchio is set for the live-action treatment at Disney.
Peter Hedges is writing a script ‘loosely based’ on the story of the wooden boy who comes to life and eventually becomes a real boy.
Few other details are known but it is rumoured that it will focus heavily on the relationship between father and son and will borrow from Carlo Collodi’s 1883 novel The Adventures Of Pinocchio.
Benecio Del Toro is also working on a dark (surprise!) version of the story that he co-wrote with Matthew Robbins and will be realised through stop-motion animation.
