Production on the Uncharted movie hopefully starting in early 2015

July 18th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

In February, the director behind the comedy hit Horrible Bosses, Seth Gordon, announced that he was set to direct a live-action adaptation to the hit game from Naughty Dog, Uncharted. Gordon also revealed that even though they haven’t named an actor to play series protagonist Nathan Drake, they hope start production on the film in early 2015.

“I think very early next year. That’s the plan. That’s like tomorrow, essentially, because the prep is so complicated for the movie.”

Gordon also said the script is in “a very good place” and that the movie will be “very international.”

With names like Marky Mark Wahlberg attached to the role of Nathan, Gordon says they have yet to decide on someone for the iconic role.

“I want it to be a great actor,” Gordon says. “That’s number one, and then if it’s someone who has an actual jaw, that’s even better. The game is so well done that you need it to live up to that. There’s no way we’d do the inverse of that where it’s somebody famous who can’t [act].”

The Uncharted franchise follows the exploits of Nathan Drake. An adventurer who chases after treasures from the likes of Sir Francis Drake among many other famous explorers in history.
