Rick Moranis is back!
And as much as I wish it was for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, just having the 80s comedy legend back on our screens is a gift enough. And he’s back fronting the franchise that probably made him a household name more than the others he was in… yes, he’s doing a new Honey, I Shrunk… movie.
Moranis famously retired from acting in 1997 (apart from some voice work) after the death of his wife as he wanted to devote his time to his children. But now, 22 years later, he’s back for the new Disney movie – and not on Disney+, but on the big screen.
The movie will he helmed by original movie director Joe Johnston and will costar Josh Gad as Moranis’ Wayne Szalinski’s son. Gad’s character, trying to be a famous scientist, makes the same mistake his dad made and, you guessed it, shrinks the kids.
The new movie will be the fourth instalment, following Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Honey, I Blew Up the Kid and Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves.
Some have speculated that this may mean the star is going to film a cameo in the upcoming third Ghostbusters outing but, as much as I’d love to see it, I doubt it means that… but we can hope.
Meanwhile, it’s just great to have this legend back. Welcome back, sir, we’ve missed you.
