It would seem that Ridley Scott is still attempting to make his sequel to Prometheus, Alien Covenant. For those who are unaware, the official synopsis of the film is as follows: “Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”

When this synopsis was released, many noted the strange absence of Elizabeth Shaw, the lead of the last film. However, in a recent interview with Collider, Janty Yates, the costume designer, stated that the reason Shaw goes unmentioned, is because the film takes place ten years after the original.

To be honest, I was not really a fan of Prometheus. I found the film to have many flaws and leaps of logic in its storytelling that I simply could not overlook. With that being said, I’m not entirely sure how this will work for the sequel. It seems strange to set up a character in the last film, only to cut her out from the sequel. Still, it is still early days, and we have yet to get an idea how this will effect the story.
