X-Force and Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has been working on a Cable movie for a while now….

The X-Force movie has been in development with Kick-Ass 2’s Jeff Wadlow working on the screenplay but it’s been pretty quiet on all fronts recently. Until now, that is.

At Wizard World Comic Con in Cleveland, Liefeld has teased that Cable will be happening: “Let me tell you right now that you’re gonna see Cable in the next couple of years. He’s in the works. I may or may not have glanced at some concept art with different actors as Cable and I was like, ‘Hey, that guy looks pretty good!’ But I won’t say who those [actors] are because I’ll get in trouble.

“I’ve been up to Fox… and they have an X-Force script. I read the X-Force script and it made me come out of my chair with excitement.”

It seems safe to assume that a Cable standalone movie will lead into an X-Force movie at some stage in the future from this news, no?

Liefeld did hint that it still could be a while away, since it took six years for Deadpool to happen, but he added that FOX are very keen to expand the X-Men movie universe as soon as possible…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
