RUMOUR: Henry Cavill eyeing MCU Wolverine role?

February 29th, 2020 by Marc Comments

Ok, look, there’s likely nothing at all to this, but some ‘reputable’ sites are reporting on it, so I figured it was worth bringing to the attention of all our fellow nerds.

Just Jared are reporting on the the rumours that Man of Steel and Witcher star Henry Cavill may be in talks to play Wolverine in the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel alongside star Brie Larson.

The movie will be written by Megan McDonnell and, as fr as we know, directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will not be returning.

We know that Marvel are looking at ways to bring mutants into the MCU and, with the Captain Marvel sequel having just been announced and therefore a while away yet, this makes sense.

However, Cavill as Wolverine just seems… wrong. Cavill is currently busy with the new Mission: Impossible and the second season of The Witcher, so it seems unlikely he’ll have time to do it. On top of this, it seems fair to say he’s still hoping – as we all are – for a sequel to Man of Steel.

We’ve also heard complaints that he’s too tall for the role, but he’s actually an inch shorter than Hugh Jackman; however, I reckon this is more due to fans of the character who want a Wolverine who is more comic-accurate ie a fair bit smaller.

Whatever the plan Marvel has for Wolverine, I honestly don’t see Cavill attached… but there’s always a chance I could be wrong.

What do you all say? Do you think this could be a real think? I want to hear your thoughts.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife.
