We already know that the Avengers: Infinity War double-header are set to be two of the hugest things ever put on the big screen. However, we have been informed of proposed budget for the films that far exceeds even your wildest imagination!

This is all unconfirmed, but the upcoming Marvel event two-parter Avengers: Infinity War could be getting a combined budget of $1 billion.

Bleeding Cool reported the figure after claiming to have spoken to “very well-sourced comic book film insiders” before New York Comic Con.

The publication added that $400 million for Parts 1 and 2 together will be spent on the writer, director, producers and actors, with half of the actor budget going to Robert Downey Jr, who plays Tony Stark aka Iron Man. He’s done well for himself!

Lastly, the project apparently has no script or even an agreed storyline yet.

This may seem astronomical to the point of being utterly untrue, especially since the reported conversation took place in a bar – and the $1bn figure is a little extreme when you consider Avengers: Age of Ultron ended up costing $280 million. But it’s an interesting claim nonetheless.

The two Avengers: Infinity War films will be shot back-to-back and directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who garnered acclaim for directing Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Part 1 is scheduled for April 27, 2018 in the UK, while Part 2 will arrive the following year on April 26, 2019.
