Samara Weaving talks Ready or Not sequel: “I’m all in!”

Samara Weaving is talking about her return as Grace in the upcoming Ready or Not sequel and we can’t wait!

You all know by now that one thing we love here is FTN HQ is something that can really allow us to dive all-in, something with lore and a potentially massive world that’s crying out to be explored and Ready or Not was certainly that and I have a feeling the sequel will be all that and more.

In the first movie, Weaving’s Grace married into a very wealthy family who made their fortune through board games and, on the night of the wedding, she ended up playing what she thought was a family tradition and a harmless game of hide and seek… but very quickly she was fighting for her life against a bunch of people she thought she could safe and perhaps the devil himself.

In the climax of the film, Grace ends up the only survivor after a very bloody reckoning and, like myself, it seems that Weaving had the same thoughts about what happens next in the story as the star said back in 2019: “I wonder what happens afterward. Does she go to jail? Does she go to an asylum for psychiatric help? Does she inherit everything? I don’t know. Or the police would say that she did it on purpose. I don’t know … Sitting in a jail cell for 90 minutes, just going insane.”

These are things I’ve wondered myself after watching the movie several times and it seems that we’re finally going to find out as Grace is now confirmed to return: “I’m all in. I think we’re all in, I don’t know. I think we’re all in,” she says, “I don’t know if we’ve had our blood handshake, but pretty much. We’ve done the spit handshake, but we haven’t cut each other’s hands and rubbed our blood together.”

Confirmed: Ready Or Not and Abigail take place in the same world

Speaking back in April about the sequel plans, original writers and directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin (collectively known as Radio Silence) said: “What we can say is that there is a script that is an absolute f—ing banger of a sequel. And however it gets made, and in whatever capacity we are helping get it made, we are so excited that it’s happening. That movie is truly the love of our creative lives in a lot of ways.”

The movie is set to be directed by Escape Room’s Adam Robitel.

With the news in April that Ready or Not (and by default, the sequel) take place in the same world as vampire/ballerina horror Abigail, also from Radio Silence, I expect Ready or Not 2 to really delve into the supernatural because in this world there are pacts with the devil and vampires, so who knows what else is out there?

Whatever it is, I can’t wait to find out… what about you?

There’s no word on when Ready or Not 2 will start filming, never mind come out, but you can bet we’ll keep you giddily posted.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
