Can it be?! Can we finally be close to a fully restored version of the classic haunted spaceship movie, Event Horizon?
Well… maybe. We live in hope.
Scream Factory have announced (below) that they are bringing Paul W.S. Anderson’s 1997 space horror flick Event Horizon out on Collector’s Edition Blu-ray this Fall – check out the very cool new artwork above.
“New extras are in progress and will be announced on a later date,” they wrote on Facebook.
“We can confirm today that we are doing a new 4K scan of the film! As for any much-inquired-about additional footage (in addition to what’s be presented on prior releases), we are looking into it as best we can. We welcome any leads you may have alongside our efforts.”
Event Horizon has a much fabled Director’s Cut that featured footage now lost that featured a full cut of what happened to the crew of the Event Horizon in the movie – previously only seen in gruesome cut scenes in the movie – as well as some additional plot points.
The movie was a failure on release but over the years had acquired a significant following on DVD and Blu-ray, so should Scream Factory manage to acquire the footage and, by mentioning it we believe they have SOMETHING, then this will sell, as they say, like hotcakes.
So the hope is still there… what say you all? Would this be on your much-watch list? Let me know in all the usual ways, gang.
