SDCC 2013: DC Animated features announced for 2014

July 21st, 2013 by Marc Comments

Hot on the heels of the screening for Flashpoint Paradox due out on DVD and Blu-Ray this month, the folks at Warner Bros. announced more titles to follow for next year. The first was called Justice League: War and will be based off of Geoff Johns Justice League New52 work.

The other two are Batman properties, which they do a lot of. The first being Batman: Assault On Arkham and the second being Son of Batman. No details have been released about either one but the assumptions are that Assault on Arkham will be based on the hit video game franchise while Son of Batman would be based on Grant Morrison’s arc which introduced Damian Wayne.

A few interesting things here, first off, I had a feeling that after Flashpoint Paradox Warners would be looking to animate New52 story arcs since in the comics Flashpoint is the event which leads us into the New52 (Can we get a buddy cop feature with Hal Jordan and Sinestro?). Also, getting to see Damian Wayne animated in a feature sounds like a whole bunch of awesomeness wrapped up in ‘that kicks ass’ wrapping paper with a ‘f*@k yes!’ bow around it.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
