SDCC: WATCH Star Wars The Force Awakens behind the scenes reel

Bit of good news and a bit of bad news for all you Nerf Herders out there…

First up the bad – Entertainment Weekly has revealed that Lucasfilm do NOT have any plans to debut a new trailer during the weekend at SDCC, so despite earlier rumours about a new look at the movie featuring Luke Skywalker, we will be getting no further hints or details on the Epiosde VII plot any time soon.

However that leads us nicely to the good news – JJ Abrams debuted a behind the scenes reel of footage from the new movie which is, as far as I’m concerned, better than any trailer.  The reel gave us a look at all of the practical sets and creatures seen in the film as well as concept art and brief behind the scenes shots of the actors looking like they’re having a genuine blast during and between takes, and why wouldn’t they – it’s Star Wars!  The reel was a pure nostalgia overload – and that final shot of Han and Leia in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon?  Man tears.

Watch it for yourself below, but be warned – this is a real rollercoaster of emotions.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens sweeps majestically into theatres on December 18th

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
