Shazam and Aquaman sequels pushed back again

August 25th, 2022 by Marc Comments

Well, more DC/Warners movies have been delayed (again), one of which was very close and we were very excited for!

First up is James Wan’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom which has been pushed from March 17th next year to Christmas Day, Dec 25th, 2023.

Now Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which was set for December this year, is taking the March 17th spot.

Man, I was so excited for Shazam! this Christmas too!

Shazam! writer/director David F Sandberg took to social media, saying: “While I’m an impatient bastard who wants people to see it as soon as possible (the film will be fully done in just a few weeks), the move makes sense since Avatar was taking all IMAX/PLF screens. Fury of the Gods is a big movie & should be seen big!”

Word is that, with Warners now under new leadership and after the cutting back of Batgirl ‘the studio has only enough cash to release two movies from now to the end of this year (Don’t Worry Darling and Black Adam)’.

Let’s hope this is just birth pains and the new management know what they’re doing…

With this all being said, some cool new concept art from the Aquaman sequel has appeared online:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
