We reported last September that Daniel Craig was set for Star Wars: The Force Awakens (here) in a small, uncredited role and now it seems that there is truth to it, after all…
“Daniel asked for some sort of secret cameo role – and was happy to have his name left off the posters. Fans will love trying to work out which covered up character is him,” an insider had reportedly said.
Well now Simon Pegg, also rumoured to be in the movie in a similar role, has confirmed that Craig is not only in the movie, but what he’s playing!
At the London premiere of Man Up in London, Pegg told The Sun Newspaper: “I wasn’t a Stormtrooper. Daniel Craig, he was a Stormtrooper.”
He hastily added: “I shouldn’t have said that.”
So, what do you think? Is Pegg just winding us up? Will Craig pop up as a Stormtrooper? If so, will he keep his helmet on? Or will he been seen in the movie? Who knows… but it’s always fun to mess around in photoshop!
UPDATED
Collider report that they reached out to Pegg, who said: “Why is everyone leaping on this? It was a rumour last summer, wasn’t it? I read it in the paper. It may be untrue, like most of the other rumours, like Cumberbatch and Cruise being in it.”
They say he was merely reporting a rumour he had heard. So, perhaps Craig isn’t a Stormtrooper at all or Pegg isn’t in the movie at all. But, if they’re as small as the rumoured roles, or maybe Disney gave him a scary call after his comments… we may never know the truth anyway.
