While we all wait excitedly for Mark Wahlberg’s starring role in The Six Billion Dollar Man (that’s sarcasm, folks – Ed), here’s something for you to dwell on… he’s going to be a superhero, says Wahlberg.
Maybe Marky Mark hasn’t been approached by Marvel and DC and has just decided to carve out his own corner in the world of superhero movies or maybe it was always the plan but whatever it is, we’re worried that words like sequel, shared universe and spinoffs can’t be far away.
Speaking to Collider, Marky Mark said that The Six Billion Dollar Man is going to be very different from when, back in the day, Lee Majors saved the world repeatedly in the 1970s’ original series: “We’re talking about doing Six Billion Dollar Man, which is very much a superhero, but I don’t have to wear any kind of spandex cape. So that would be cool. Howard Gordon (Homeland, 24) is writing the script and people are talking about doing it, but we got a great, great idea and it’s something that’s been in the pipeline for quite some time, so hopefully if we get the script right maybe we’ll make it after we do the Deep Water Horizon (Wahlberg’s next movie about the 2010 offshore drilling rig malfunction that led to the worst oil spill in U.S. history).”
So there you have it, forget the rest, Wahlberg is coming to save the world…
