With the world going bonkers over Game of Thrones, we’re actually surprised this hasn’t started before now…

Variety are reporting that “Myriad Pictures is in advanced negotiations with Milla Jovovich to star in its fantasy adventure film In the Lost Lands, adapted from short stories by George R.R. Martin”.

This is the first time any of Martin’s work has been made for the big screen; the movie is also set to star Shameless’ Justin Chatwin. It will be directed by Constantin Werner who is writing the screenplay also. It will begin filming later this year.

“In the Lost Lands is based on three short stories by Martin. In one thread, the desperate queen of a city built into a towering mountain hires a sorceress — played by Jovovich — to travel into the ghostly wasteland called the Lost Lands to obtain the gift of shape-shifting into a werewolf.

“Another thread involves a warrior girl who must fight a dragon that serves as the gatekeeper of seven worlds to reunite with her lost lover. The futuristic tale Bitterblooms centers on a young barbarian girl who is spellbound by a lonely witch in a spacecraft.”

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
