UPDATE: Yes, we fell for it, this was an April Fools joke. We apologise guys…

What?! We were hesitant to report this as we feared it was an April Fool’s gag but it seems it’s the truth…

There was the old (fun) rumour that, with Ben Affleck as Batman, Matt Damon would have to play Robin (here) which, of course, no one took seriously, but it does seem that Damon IS now part of the DC Cinematic Universe.

A very big part of it and we’ll see him in Justice League.

We’ve known ever since Batman V Superman that Steppenwolf, the commander of Darkseid’s army, would be the villain in Justice League as he reportedly comes to earth to find the Motherboxes which are possessed by the humans, Atlanteans and Amazons.

And many assumed that Darkseid himself would either have a cameo or not appear at all.

Well, it seems he will indeed have a cameo and will be played by Damon.

Producer Charles Roven, speaking at the Producers Guild of America, seems to accidentally have spilled the really big beans: “Zack [Snyder] has had his vision of what these characters can be, and you’re seeing that building with each movie. Justice League is going to, we believe, connect people to these heroes even more. Ben’s [Affleck] Batman is finding hope, but also finding newer, younger people that the audience will hopefully connect to. And then we’ll keep building on that as we go.”

So far, so ‘we know all this’, right? Well, he went on: “It’s the same thinking with Darkseid, who we’ve had Matt Damon give a performance for; even in the few scenes you get with him, there’s more going on than just a typical bad guy. You want to know his story, but that comes later.”

Matt Damon is Darkseid!? This is pretty awesome news, indeed!

Synopsis
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat.  But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

JUSTICE LEAGUE is released November 17, 2017.
