Maz Kanata has finally been spotted in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed footage!

The character, played by actress Lupita Nyong’o via motion capture in the movie, has been seen in the official poster (here) but had yet to be seen onscreen… until now.

The latest Disney XD TV Spot has been uploaded on youtube via a rather crude reeded of screen video but, crude or now, Maz can clearly be seen beside Finn in one brief shot at the 0:17sec mark.

According to the Star Wars WikiMaz Kanata was a female pirate. She lived for over one thousand years and her eyes, covered with goggles, held a special power.[1] Around thirty years after the Battle of Endor, she owned a castle which played host to travelers, smugglers and other riff raff.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and features a new generation of swashbuckling heroes and shadowy villains, as well as the return of fan-favorite smugglers, princesses, and Jedi.

Starring Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Anderson, Christina Chong and Miltos Yerolemou, the J.J. Abrams-directed film will debut in theaters on December 18, 2015.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
