The wait is over, after Robert Orci departed Star Trek 3 many wondered who would helm the film. Now it’s been revealed via Deadline that Justin Lin, of Fast and Furious fame, will take on the project.
Ironically, it appears as though Lin may have gotten the job simply because he had the time to do it. He was set to film a sequel to Bourne Legacy, but with that now not happening, he had the ability to take over Star Trek 3.
No word yet as to when filming may start, or if more changes are going to happen before filming begins. The third film in the revamped franchise is hoping to hit theaters in 2016.
UPDATE!!!: We have now have confirmation as to when Star Trek 3 will hit theaters! The movie is set to release on July 8th, 2016!
