Appearing on NBC’s Today show, Zachary Quinto revealed that filming on a third Star Trek movie is getting ready to begin soon.
Quinto said: “I think it’s on the horizon. Things are rumbling, so I have a feeling that we will be in production sometime in the next six months.”
If production starts early next year, the film would most likely be released in the summer of 2016. This would coincide with the 50th anniversary of the first broadcast.
Roberto Orci has confirmed the first draft of the screenplay was completed last month and will be closer in tone to the original 1960s TV series than previously seen. It’s expected that Orci will take over directing duties but Paramount has yet to confirm. Hopefully this means a hell of a lot less lens flair…
