We have what seems to be an official synopsis of next year’s Star Wars movie, Starfighter.
The movie, which stars Ryan Gosling, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, and Amy Adams, is shrouded in secrecy, and all we really know is that it’s a standalone adventure with a host of new characters, and at least some of them will be Force users.
On top of the new synopsis, below, we have these funky new patches for the movie, one of which features a new logo for the movie, which is almost certainly inspired by some of the promotional art for the original 1977 Star Wars movie.
Check out the patches:
The patch was first revealed by Pierre on Instagram Stories, left.
The new, albeit brief, synopsis reads:
In a rebuilding galaxy, a solitary pilot becomes entangled in a crucial mission as new threats emerge. Their journey may alter the future of the Force itself.
The movie, directed by Night at the Museum and Deadpool and Wolverine’s Shawn Levi, will be highly anticipated for its star, Ryan Gosling, especially after his massively successful role in Project Hail Mary. It’s also interesting that Doctor Who and Game of Thrones star Matt Smith has a role too, given that he was originally set to have a substantial role in The Rise of Skywalker with rumours being that he might have been playing a young Palpatine; will that have any impact of the role he’s playing here? Hard to know.
Writer Jonathan Tropper said of the movie: “Fans should expect something new and different, but in very much the spirit of the original ‘Star Wars’ movies.
Tom Cruise filmed a lightsaber battle! Plus loads of new details on Star Wars: Starfighter
“We really wanted adventure, excitement, wish fulfillment and the joy that we felt as little kids seeing those first versions of the movies. Anything that grows for generations develops a lot more mythology and weight in history. I think we just wanted to go back to the joy and excitement of how it felt when we were kids seeing these movies.”
Star Wars may be trying hard to get back on top with the recent insertion of Original Trilogy characters into the Galaxy’s Edge areas of their parks, as well as the recently aired Maul: Shadow Lord and the upcoming big screen outing (first Star Wars movie in seven years, believe it or not) for The Mandalorian and Grogu, but it’s hard not to be excited for Starfighter, especially with that cast.
Anyway, what do you think of the synopsis and logos? Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all!
Star Wars: Starfighter is currently due to launch on May 28, 2027.
