Yes, ANOTHER superhero TV show is in the works, and yes, another ORIGIN superhero TV is in the works. This time it’s the Man of Steel’s home that is getting the spotlight.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that DC and Warner Bros are teaming with Syfy to bring the origin story of the planet Krypton to life. And it is to be headed up by David S. Goyer.

The story will take place long before the inevitable destruction of the planet, and will in fact focus on “when the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This drama, which is in development, follows the Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.”

This is a big deal for numerous reasons. One, unlike Gotham, there honestly hasn’t been a dedicated to the true life on Krypton. The only exception you could say is the beginning of Man of Steel itself, or the first episode of Superman: The Animated Series. This could not only be something entirely fresh, but something very interesting to watch.

Also, this is the second attempt to get a superhero show from DC onto Syfy. Years ago there were rumors of a Booster Gold series set to air on the network, but nothing came of it.

No doubt this will be a big news item in the days to come. We’ll let you know when more news breaks!
