Tarantino quits Hateful 8 after script leaks

January 23rd, 2014 by Marc Comments

Ok, so remember during the week we found out Tarantino was planning on making a new western called The Hateful Eight (here)? well, it seems the director has thrown a strop over the media finding out about it…

Speaking with Deadline, the said that, because of the leak, he will publish the script and move on to one of the other scripts he’s working on: “I finished a script, a first draft, and I didn’t mean to shoot it until next winter, a year from now. I gave it to six people, and apparently it’s gotten out.

“I’m not making this next. I’m going to publish it, and that’s it for now. I give it out to six people and, if I can’t trust them to that degree, then I have no desire to make it. I’ll publish it. I’m done. I’ll move on to the next thing. I’ve got ten more where that came from.

“The idea was, I was going to write two scripts. I wasn’t going to shoot the Western until next winter and I have been full of piss and vinegar about the other one. So now I’ll do that one.”

The script, according the angry director, was given to actors Bruce Dern, Michael Madsen and Tim Roth and a select few others and he believes one of Dern or Madsen’s agency reps passed it around. he says he feels betrayed.

Is he being precious or is he right? What do you all think?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
