Tarantino’s latest movie gets a title and will star Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt!

After weeks, months and seemingly years of speculation, rumours and pure and simple hearsay, Quentin Tarantino has announced the title of his next movie, his ninth in total and first movie without the production company of “he who shall not be named” backing him financially.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood will star Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio (90s girls are gagging on a spoon with excitement right now at this pairing).

Sony sent out an official press release to announce the initial casting and title while Tarantino himself provided the first legitimate plot details, describing it as “a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood.” He also offered some details on the main characters, played by DiCaprio (who previously starred in Django Unchained) and Pitt (Inglourious Basterds):

The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), former star of a western TV series, and his long time stunt double Clint Booth (Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognise anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbour… Sharon Tate.

Tarantino has reportedly been eyeing Margot Robbie for the role of Tate, the former model and wife of Roman Polanski who was nine months pregnant when she was murdered by The Manson Family in the summer of 1969.

Although Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is not directly about the Manson Family murders, it is set right next door to them. Tarantino, who has lived much of his life in LA, reveals he’s been working on the script for five years: “I’m very excited to tell this story of an L.A. and a Hollywood that don’t exist anymore,” says Tarantino.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will hit theatres on August 9, 2019 which will be the 50th anniversary of Sharon Tate’s murder.
