One of our guilty pleasure movie franchises is The Purge… sure they steadily decline in quality, but it’s hard not to give a little giddy giggle when you find out anther one is coming.
And, let’s all be honest, if there’s one thing the series isn’t, it’s subtle. Check exhibit A above for proof.
Yes, the latest Purge movie is called The First Purge and that baseball cape in the teaser poster reading as much looks a lot like one worn by a certain Donald Trump. Are they trying to tell us something?

Coming off the most successful film in the series, The Purge: Election Year, creator James DeMonaco (writer/director of The Purge, The Purge: Anarchy and The Purge: Election Year) returns alongside the producers of this worldwide phenomenon: Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (Insidious series, Get Out, Split), Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ouija series, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and DeMonaco’s longtime production partner, Sébastien K. Lemercier (Assault on Precinct 13, Four Lovers).
The First Purge is directed by Gerard McMurray (Burning Sands), working from a screenplay once again written by DeMonaco and stars Y’Lan Noel, Lex Scott Davis, Joivan Wade, Luna Lauren Velez and Marisa Tomei.
The First Purge opens in theaters on July 4.
